Making Space for What's Next
When was the last time you cleared your calendar, your white board and your mind?
It’s a scary thought for some people, myself included. Not everyone uses a white board, but I do. It’s usually bursting with ideas, just like me. I’m afraid if I erase it, I might forget those brilliant ideas. For the first time in a long time, I was brave enough to erase it. I’m making space for what’s next in my “Zabelicious Life.” I invite you to join me and do the same.
Designers always make room for “white space,” because it provides balance and allows you to focus on the design itself. The same concept applies to our daily lives. If our mind, our calendar and our white board is cluttered and overbooked, we can’t focus on anything.
How ready are you to open your schedule, erase your white board and make space for what’s next?
Here are ten tips to help you create “white space” throughout your day:
Unplug from technology
Schedule white space in your calendar daily
Clear your white board and start fresh each day. Don’t have one? Maybe you need one?
Go for a walk, even a short one
Say hello to a stranger & make a new friend
Do a short workout
Take a power nap
Meditate
Daydream
Journal or draw
Dig Deeper & Journal It:
Consider keeping a journal to document your “white space” time. Not sure where to start? Read “Why Journal?”
Ask yourself this question in the beginning:
What am I making space for?
Thirty days later, ask yourself:
How has the practice of making space transformed my life?
Continue practicing the art of making space and prepare to be inspired!
