Hope Paints a Vision of the Future

Today, I am feeling sentimental and hopeful. Sentimental, because the countdown is on for our youngest child to graduate high school. Hopeful, because I’m reminded of the blank canvas our children have to paint a picture of their future. We just need to give them the tools and the freedom to express themselves. When they use their imagination, anything is possible. Sifting through old photos recently, I found this series of our budding artist at work.

When our daughter was younger, we gave her an entire wall as her blank canvas. She was so thrilled and spent the day painting whatever her heart desired. The whimsical mural she designed is painted over now, but the memory remains. Each brush stroke gave her a sense of independence that helped her become the free spirit she is today.

I think she’s ready to face anything, after navigating through a pandemic and missed milestones too many to count. I’ve been so impressed by the resilience she and her classmates have shown. Some may come out of this stronger. I know our daughter is. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her and the class of 2021. I have high hopes that the picture she paints for herself will be full of brilliant colors and exciting adventures.

What gives you hope today? Journal it!

How do you imagine the future looks on your canvas? Paint it!

Make it a great Monday!
