Wisconsin’s Winter Wonderland

Snow is falling steadily as I gaze out the window. I can see ice crystals forming on the trees, as the temperature drops. It truly is a winter wonderland here in Wisconsin. If you haven’t experienced this season for yourself, I highly recommend you give it a try. Festivals and sports don’t hibernate here-they just get creative. So bundle up, as I take you on a tour of some breathtaking winter scenes. If you’ve never been here, I think you’ll want to hit some of these small towns on your next road trip along I-94. First stop on our Zabelicious Midwest Winter Tour: Delafield.

Delafield: Dining Domes and More!

Take a stroll along the streets of Delafield, Wisconsin, and you might think you walked right into a Lang Calendar scene. That’s because this charming town was restored in the ‘90s by none other than Bob Lang, himself. Lang’s frequent trips to Colonial Williamsburg gave him the vision that influenced the design of the buildings. City leaders say what he did for Delafield is a gift that keeps on giving. Nestled between Milwaukee and Madison, Delafield is the perfect place to visit. Be forewarned, you might be so enchanted you’ll want to stay the night.

Eat

Belfré Kitchen - A picturesque setting in any season, this restaurant is inside of a church that dates back to 1868. The menu has so many inventive and delicious options, it’s hard to choose just one. The standouts for me are the Nicoise Salad, the Crab Cake Benedict and the mimosa flight.  The mother-daughter team who owns and operates Belfre Kitchen makes you feel right at home. For some dining reservations, visit their website!

I.d. - A modern American kitchen that offers tapas, so you may sample a variety of seasonal dishes. Everything we had was spectacular, the sommelier was very knowledgeable with food and wine pairings. Our favorites were the Charcuterie, Kimichi Cakes, the Sweet Potato Gnocchi and the Seared Scallops. We had no room for dessert. Next time!

Shop

Elements of Style - Hip, fun boutique, reasonably priced.

Bliss - Creative mix of clothing and accessories.
