Makeshift Mudroom Update

Our "makeshift mudroom" has now become a “man cave” with the latest improvements. Phase two of the mudroom, which is actually part of the garage, led to getting the floor professionally painted. So much for that budget we were sticking to. I must admit, I was originally skeptical about the idea, but do think it was well worth the investment. It’s so much easier to keep clean and not slippery at all. I’m enjoying it almost as much as my husband.

Sleek black and silver cabinets now hide all of the junk. They required minimal assembly and were installed quickly. Now the garage is cleaner than our house. So much so, that's where we held our daughter's graduation party! My garden cart became the serving cart for cold drinks and even held one of the memory boards. The drawers and shelves provided the perfect place to stash extra party supplies when needed.

It's the Father's Day present every Dad dreams of, a sparkling clean garage with everything in its place. Here are the links to the products and services we used for the latest updates to our “makeshift mudroom.”

We found the Husky Free Standing Garage Cabinets at Home Depot.

We hired a local professional, Cory Dickenson of LayerPro Concrete Coatings to paint the concrete floor over a weekend. It’s a three step process that includes prep work of grinding the entire concrete floor to open up the pores, 100% solid epoxy base coat with flakes broadcasted in, then a protective coat. Dickenson began doing it as a side job and launched his own business within the LayerPro franchise family in 2020. We were very impressed with the quality of his work and there’s a 15 year warranty on the finish. Since Dickenson’s home base is Green Bay, Wisconsin, we thought it only fitting to pay homage to Vince Lombardi by displaying one of his many inspirational quotes. I have a feeling there might be a flat screen TV coming soon to keep Vince company in the garage once football season kicks off.
