Homemade Cookie Tins

There’s no greater gift than one that’s homemade. These easy DIY cookie tins are a perfect way to brighten someone’s day. Especially, when filled with their favorite treats.

I came up with the idea for these when my nieces and nephews were born. I bake cookies with them in person whenever I can, but they live far away, so that’s not always an option. I wanted to create a way to stay connected long distance and build a tradition that would last a lifetime.

I discovered the ideal white tins at Michael’s a few years ago and simply personalized them with stickers. I’ve also created some as Christmas gifts, with more of a holiday theme. Either way, it’s a simple, fun craft that results in a keepsake gift for any occasion. My nieces and nephews absolutely love the tins I made for them. They’ve have been sending them back to me for refills, ever since. This year, there was even a special request for snickerdoodles, complete with adorable notes and drawings. How sweet is that?

Looking for treats that travel well for mailing? Try my recipes for Snickerdoodles, Rainbow Krispie Treats, Toffee Triangles, or Santa’s Giant Ginger Cookies. All are crowd pleasers and don’t usually crumble in transit. I do recommend a lot of wax paper and bubble wrap when shipping cookies! Happy crafting, friends!
