Ingredients: 

• 1 1/2 oz  Cognac

• 3/4 oz Cointreau

• 3/4 oz Fresh lemon juice

Garnish:

• Orange twist

• Sugar rim

Directions:

Coat the rim of your glass with sugar and set aside. Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake. Strain into the prepared martini glass and garnish drink with an orange twist.

The origin of this cocktail is still up for debate. The story that seems to stand the test of time is, the French claim it was inspired by an American army captain who arrived at a Paris bar in a motorcycle’s sidecar, requesting a drink to warm him up. Others believe this cocktail was simply a variation of the Brandy Crusta. Either way, it’s a stiff drink not meant for any lightweights, and it’s sure to warm you up!
