Melting Moments
Here’s a family favorite cookie that truly melts in your mouth! A dear friend shared the recipe with me over twenty years ago. They’ve become a holiday tradition for Easter, Christmas and every celebration in between! Perfect for a bridal or baby shower, because they are so dainty. Beware, they are a bit tricky and do require a top of the line mixer in order to get the recipe just right. Once the mixing is done, grab your little helpers to put their thumbprints to work! Don’t overcook or undercook. The frosting must be put on just at the right time, in order to get that true melting moment taste. They are a bit putzy, but trust me, they are worth the trouble! Oh, and be sure to have a glass of milk ready. They are a bit rich, but worth the calories!
Melting Moments Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup butter (softened)
1/3 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup corn starch
1 cup flour
Preheat oven to 350
Mix well (I use a Kitchen Aid Mixer)
Make into small balls, place on cookie sheet and make a thumbprint
Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes until light brown, cool slightly and transfer onto rack
Frost immediately (while still warm) with a small teaspoon or butter knife:
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla
Decorate with colored sugar or sprinkles and/or add food coloring to frosting for variety
*Zabelicious tip:
Store frosted cookies between wax paper sheets to keep from breaking. They are very fragile.
