Last Minute Christmas Gift Ideas

The countdown to Christmas is on. Are you still scrambling to find the perfect gift for someone on your list?

We’ve got you covered. With just five days to go, here are five “one size fits all” gift ideas for you to consider. Some don’t even need wrapping.

1. Gourmet Food Baskets-Support local merchants and fill a basket or bowl with an array of culinary delights. I’ve assembled three options to inspire you that I created myself at home. No time to make your own? Shop online to find many options for pre-made gift baskets or boxes.

  • Characuterie Basket- Wisconsin cheese selections from Hooks, Pleasant Ridge, and Sartori, sausage from the local butcher, Nutkrack Candied pecans, Door County dried fruits, Quince & Apple preserves, a mini board, spreader and holiday napkins. The basket is multipurpose, as it fits a standard 9 X 13 pan. Bon appetit!

  • Wine Basket-Two bottles from Wisconsin winery, Villa Bellezza, with a variety of wine stoppers, a corkscrew and cocktail napkins. This basket is ideal for serving bread to accompany your vino. Cheers!

  • Olive Lovers Bowl-Gourmet olive oils and olives from Oliva Di Vita, dinner napkins and a set of serving spoons all inside a decorative salad bowl. Perfect for the gourmet on your list!

2. Cozy Winter Blanket-You can never have too many blankets in the Midwest. I love the new one my mom just gifted me from Macy’s. Perfect for a winter nap admiring the tree by a roaring fire.

3. Cookbooks-’Tis the season for baking and there are tons of new cookbooks out there to choose from. Two recent favorites I’ve added to my collection, The Lost Kitchen and Magnolia Table are so pretty to look at, they could even serve as a coffee table book, if cooking isn’t your thing. Another idea is to assemble favorite homemade recipes in a keepsake book. I’m still adding recipes to the classic Susan Branch one I gave to my daughter a few years ago.

4. Music Boxes-From snow globes to heirloom designs, music boxes have been delighting young and old since the 18th century, when they were invented in Switzerland. Find custom handmade music boxes on Etsy.

5. Calendars-Gifting family and friends calendars has become a tradition everyone looks forward to in my family. This year, I found a variety of styles from Punch Studio at very affordable prices.

Zabelicious Tip:

No time to assemble a basket, or shop and wrap? Give the gift of time to your loved ones. Write down a special activity or outing you can do together. Place it in a colorful envelope or a fun box, if you have one handy. They’ll love the spontaneity and have something to look forward to in the new year!
