Berry Smoothie

Berry smoothies are the breakfast of superheroes.

One upon a time, we told a story like that to our little caped crusaders. Smoothies have been part of our morning ritual ever since. Berries work well to disguise other healthy stuff we like to sneak in. We rarely measure our ingredients, so no two smoothies are alike. We use whatever we have on hand. For a vibrant red color and sweeter taste, we add more strawberries or raspberries. I also enjoy a simple combo of blueberries and blackberries with a touch of apple. Try a variety of any of the ingredients listed below in my recipe. Sometimes I throw it all in. Use your imagination and have fun!

I’ve added photos of a few different versions and serving options. Lately, I’ve been using chia seeds in our smoothies. They are loaded with so much goodness, they are considered a “superfood.” So, whether or not you have your cape on, you can be energized like a superhero if you drink this up! Which superhero will you be after your Zabelicious Berry Smoothie? I’ll face my day head on as Wonder Woman! Look out world, I’m feeling stronger already!

Zabelicious Tips

  • Use organic ingredients whenever possible. Fortunately, here in America’s Dairyland, we are blessed with a bounty of fresh dairy and produce at our local markets.

  • Save time in the morning with smoothie prep the night before. Place all ingredients in the blender and store in the refrigerator overnight. Wake up, blend and serve the next morning!

  • Don’t toss fresh fruit that’s getting a little over-ripe. Save it for a future smoothie. Simply trim off the bad parts, wash, dice and freeze it in recyclable containers ready for smoothies.

Go Green!

  • Recycle glass jars to store leftover smoothies in. You’ll have a healthy snack to go for later, or breakfast for the next day.
