Apple Crisp
Nothing says love like homemade apple crisp fresh out of the oven. Can’t you just smell that heavenly aroma of cinnamon, sugar and apples? Baking apple crisp is a family tradition every fall, after a trip to the orchard and a must at Thanksgiving. Don’t forget the ice cream! Let’s get cooking.
Apple Crisp Recipe
Fruit Mixture:
6-8 apples (gala or honey crisp) peeled & sliced (enough to fill the pan)
1/3 C water
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg

Topping:
1 1/4 C sugar (raw cane sugar tastes best and gives more texture)
1 C flour
1 stick or 1/2 C butter (softened but not melted)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350
Spread apples evenly in 9X13 pan
Sprinkle with cinnamon, dash of salt and water
Gently stir all ingredients
Mix topping with pastry blender until crumbly
Spread crumb mixture evenly over apples
Bake uncovered for 40 minutes
Serve warm with ice cream
Zabelicious Tip
Investing in high quality bakeware doesn’t have to break the bank. I’ve been using my Pyrex glass baking dish for 29 years and it still performs well for cooking and clean up. They’ve improved the design over time, with a deeper dish and offer lids for easy transport. I’ve found it on sale through Pyrex and Target.
Make it a Zabelicious Thanksgiving!
